As an independent licensed clinical social worker, Melissa is working to improve the lives of children, adults, and families. Melissa graduated from Adelphi University, New York in 2007 with her master’s degree. In 2017 Melissa received her LCSW from the State of Maine.  Since Melissa has worked in a number of areas of the social work field. Melissa has been working for a community-based agency for almost 10 years and is excited to venture into private practice.

Experience

As a certified Social Worker, I understand the weight and frustration of feeling like there is more out there for you, but not knowing where to turn to first. My mission is simple: give my clients the education, tools, and resources they need to feel happy, healthy, and capable of managing life’s pressures. Get in touch to get started!

     Melissa's past experiences have been in many areas and different populations.  Melissa has worked for a number of agencies working with children, teenagers, adults, homelessness, substance use, DV, and trauma. Melissa has been trained in different therapy modalities CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CPP (Child-Parent Psychotherapy), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Strengths-based, ​Solution Focused Brief Treatment, Family/Marital Therapy & Parental Coaching, and MI (Motivational Interviewing).

At this time, Melissa is only offering Telehealth sessions.

Healing Takes Courage Counseling accepts most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). For uninsured patients, fees may be on a sliding scale.  We can also work with most employer-sponsored EAP plans.
